The personal locator beacon operates on the globally recognised Cospas-Sarsat search and rescue satellite network, which is the only official, government-funded system dedicated to emergency response. Because this network is government supported, there are no subscription fees or call-out charges for using the service.
Once activated, the beacon transmits your unique ID and precise location via satellite to a Rescue Coordination Centre. The appropriate search and rescue teams closest to your position are immediately alerted and receive regular location updates, helping them reach you as quickly and efficiently as possible.
